Our Story
The Beginning:
Every great story begins somewhere, and ours began long before Whiskerlight Candle Company ever had a name.
For years, I was a loyal customer of J&J Candle Co. I admired the originality behind every design, the craftsmanship poured into every product, and fragrances that truly filled a home and lasted. I never imagined that one day I'd have the opportunity to continue something I had loved for so long.
When the owner of J&J Candle Co. decided it was time to retire and spend more time with her family and grandchildren, she entrusted me with the opportunity to carry on the tradition she had built from the ground up. Before launching Whiskerlight, she spent months personally training me, sharing not only her knowledge, but the care and passion that made her business so special. To this day, she continues to be a source of guidance whenever I need it, and for that I am incredibly grateful.
Accepting that opportunity was an easy decision. It was unexpected, but it felt right from the very beginning. It was never about replacing what came before—it was about honoring a legacy while creating the next chapter.
As Whiskerlight has grown, I've been able to bring my own creativity and ideas to life. One of my proudest moments was creating Eucalyptus & Spearmint, the very first fragrance I developed entirely on my own. That feeling of watching an idea become something real is one I'll always carry with me, and it's a reminder of why I love what I do.
The Whiskerlight Story:
But Whiskerlight is about much more than candles.
It's about home.
The name Whiskerlight was inspired by our three dogs—Mya, Ollie, and Nova—who have always been at the heart of our family. They've always been included in everything we do. Ollie is the first to investigate every new candle or bouquet of flowers, happily returning for sniff after sniff. Nova has strong opinions and never hesitates to let us know which fragrances earn her approval. Mya is my constant companion during long production days, faithfully keeping me company from start to finish.
Watching their whiskers glow in the candlelight inspired the name Whiskerlight. It felt like the perfect way to combine a piece of our home with the warmth, comfort, and memories that candlelight brings.
Today, every Whiskerlight product is handcrafted by me from start to finish—from dreaming up new fragrances and designing each collection to hand-pouring, labeling, packaging, and preparing every order. My husband, along with our family and friends, are always ready to lend a hand whenever needed because this truly is a family business in every sense of the word.
